Annual Bands on the Beach kicks off today

Happening today - It's the return of Bands on the Beach provided and organized by the Santa Rosa Island Authority.

Channel 3's Kalie Desimone who joins us live this morning with a preview of the event from Pensacola Beach.

No one is here now but come 7 p.m. tonight this area will be packed with people. After Midnight's members have been rocking the Gulf Coast's casinos and local hot spots for the past three decades.

"They've been waiting, when we go out there they are going to be excited. They've been cooped up way too long this year," said Raif Crosley on the band's bass and vocals.

The group's performance consists of classic rock, pop, jazz, blues, and oldies.

"We are going to play something for each generation," said Eddie Parker on guitar and vocals.

After Midnight says Bands on the Beach is one of the best opportunities to showcase local talent.

"It gets us out there people say 'hey I like them' then they can start following from there which is a good thing," Crosley said.

If you plan on attending you are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to the pavilion area.
From 7-9 p.m. at the Gulfside Pavillion.
