Employees let go with no warning at West Florida Recycling

Some employees of a local recycling company say they lost their jobs with no warning.

Last week-- West Florida Recycling temporarily closed its doors in Pensacola and Santa Rosa County, due to onsite flooding. Last August-- the florida Department of Environmental Protection said conditions at the plant were unacceptable. And earlier this month, the company filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Some plant employees say they still haven't been paid for two weeks of work.

"As far as I know it was because no money for the employees. I mean if we were still getting paid then there would be no problem with us still working," said Allen Thomas, Santa Rosa Supervisor.

West Florida Recycling released a statement saying in part we are committed to paying all of our employees everything they have earned.
