Animals safe in Ensley kennel fire

ENSLEY  --  Fire heavily damaged a pet boarding facility in Ensley overnight.
The fire sparked at the "Magic Touch Boarding Kennel" on Chadson Street, just east of Chemstrand Road about 8:15 pm.

Kalie Desimone- "The ground is soaked, there is insulation everywhere. The outside of the kennel looks okay but if you look inside it's completely destroyed."

It was a little after 8 o'clock Tuesday night that Jeff Godwin had gotten news that something wasn't right at his family owned kennel.

Jeff Godwin- "Got all the dogs, all the cats, everything is good."
Flames ripped through the pet kennel located on Chadson Street, just east of Chemstrand Road.

Jeff Godwin- "All the other animals are fine. They pulled them out and put them in other cages."

Escambia Fire Rescue crews worked for more than an hour to contain and put out the flames.
Jeff Godwin- "It looks like they only thing that was lost was a bird, a personal bird."

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by the Florida State fire Marshal's Office.

Kalie Desimone-  "The family who owns the kennel says it will take them a little while to clean things up but they have full intentions of opening the kennel back up for business."
