ECAT holds workshop: "Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program"

ESCAMBIA COUNTY  --   Small business owners got a lesson in doing business with Escambia County and the state of Florida.
Escambia County Area Transit held a workshop today on the "Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program."
That's a statewide effort to help small or minority-owned businesses get state contracts.

The services needed range from construction and landscaping to technology and public relations.

Tonya Ellis/ECAT: "They get information and resources of how to be registered, how to work with the state and how to be able to partner with not only ECAT but the Florida Dept of Transportation to get more business to encourage economic development in our area."

ECAT plans to host more of these workshops in the future.
They'll post details on their website as the meetings are scheduled.
