While beaches across the area were filled with folks enjoying the three day weekend, veterans said it's important to recognize this day for what it is.
Ron "Doc" Holladay COMMANDER, VFW 4407 "It's easy to get caught up in the beach and doing what a lot of people like to do. But it's very important to take - our sermon will last like thirty or forty five minutes - to take this moment to understand and to pay tribute to those folks."
A special acknowledgment was made for a pair of World War II veterans in attendance, who were recognized by a standing ovation for their service.
