    Escambia deputies are investigating a shooting in the Montclair area. Witnesses say a 12 year old boy was shot. Authorities confirmed one person was transported to the hospital via trauma alert. More here

Latest information on damage and flooding number from recent storm

More than 1200 Escambia County homes were seriously damaged during the flooding.
The county just released new damage assessment numbers:

As of noon today..
They counted 1,252 homes in the county with major damage, that means more than 12 inches of water got into the home.
   
930 homes with minor damages, and 3 homes that are destroyed.
Assessments are continuing, but for now, there are 50 businesses with major damage.
   
They have assessed about 80 percent of the roads
45 roads are still closed, and 41 roads have damage.
   
The county is  working with the State of Florida and FEMA to conduct more assessments of the damage.
   
As of now we are still under a state of emergency, but we are not under a disaster declaration.
Once the assessments are complete, a disaster declaration  request will be sent to the president.
   
Until then, FEMA assistance is not available.
