Rebuilding non-profits

The recent flooding also did damage to the First City Art Center in downtown Pensacola.  The building held about 3 to 4 feet of water, damaging or destroying several pieces of equipment like kilns, furnaces and computers.  The art center is a non profit education organization and provides programs for adults and students in the community.

Executive Director Meredith Doyen says losing the center would be another long term hit to the area.  "Essentially, if everything doesn't work here, we're going to go out of business.  And I think, again, in the big picture, when everyone's back on their feet, having a hole in the art community like that would be bad."

The First City Art Center will be hosting a fundraising event Friday night, called "Hot Glass Cold Brew!"  It will run from 5 to 9pm and many of the supplies for the event have been donated by other community organizations.
