UPDATE: Missed school days won't have to be made up

Students were forced to stay home from school because of the flooding.
Now each county is trying to figure out what to do about those missed days.

Escambia County School Superintendent Malcolm Thomas made a request to the school board that students not have to make up the two missed days.

Santa Rosa County has gotten a waiver from the Florida Department of Education and will not have to make up the  days missed.

And Okaloosa County is waiting to hear back on the waiver that was filed there.

Escambia County already had more than the required hours built in to its calendar, so it does not need approval from the state.
