Weather Alert

On the map below, the circle over the Gulf of Mexico is for an area of low pressure heading toward Texas.  Development is not expected.  Also, we're tracking Cristobal and a tropical wave over the Atlantic Ocean that may become another depression though chances are low.

Getting back to normal at Holm Elementary

ESCAMBIA COUNTY  -  Things are slowly getting back to normal here along the gulf coast after last week's storms brought heavy flooding to the area.

Teachers from Holm Elementary have returned to the school after  flood waters caused a lot of damage.
Students will return to school Tuesday.

Two wings inside the school were more seriously damaged than originally thought.
In some places there was 20 inches of water.

All of the teachers have returned back to the school here.
We have been watching many of them carrying bibs full of supplies from their classroom -basically anything that was not destroyed.
A little further down here are the two buildings that were affected by the flooding. You can see that there is a ton of heavy equipment that is being used to help clean these buildings. These big yellow pipes are being used help suck up the dust while workers are inside cutting out the drywall.
29 classrooms have been affected by this flooding.
The principal here at the school says the cleanup project is expected to go on for several weeks and will not be complete until after school is out for the summer.

This arrangement will be for the remainder of the school year.
