Trial continues to see if state legislators broke the law when drawing new political maps

We are now in the second week of a trial to determine whether state legislators broke the law when drawing new political maps.

Today the non-jury trial is expected to begin with testimony from well-connected Republican political consultants.

This comes after several groups accused state legislators of ignoring a 2010 constitutional amendment.

That amendment bans them from drawing up congressional districts that protect incumbents or members of a certain party.
