Escambia Co. testing for mosquitoes in standing water

Escambia County has teams out checking ponds and ditches for larval mosquitoes, known as wiggle tails.
When they find them, they treat the water before they ever turn into biting adults.

Keith Wilkins, Escambia County: "Right now the numbers of mosquitoes we see occurring are no greater than what we normally see. We do expect some increased activity over the next couple of weeks, but we're on top of it and we'll be treating as necessary."
If they do start fogging, they'll post the schedule online.
Santa Rosa County began fogging on Monday.

You can find a link to that schedule on our website under newslinks.
