Businesses hard hit in flooding

Some businesses in our area have been affected by last weeks flooding many of them had water damage but one business is feeling the after effects of the storm in a different way.

"My business is down 75 percent since the storm," said Linda Johnson who owns Dairy Queen on Scenic Highway.

The parking lot here at the Dairy Queen located off of Scenic Highway is considered empty for a week day during lunch hours.

"Not only is it affecting my business but it is affecting my empolyees," Johnson said.

On Tuesday afternoon no one was behind the counter working

"I've had to cut 20 staff over the past 4 days."

So whats causing the drop in sales? Linda Johnson says signs like these.

"There are actually signs on the interstate that our exit is closed."

Johnson says the signs are confusing and misleading since the part of Scenic Highway where she is located is open.

"As of yesterday speaking with dot they said that this could last two to three months. This is my busy season, I won't make it 3 months, I'll have to close."

Johnson say if things do not improve in the next week or two she will have to start cutting her operating hours.
