Overnight officer involved shooting in Pensacola

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating an officer involved shooting that happened last night.

Escambia County deputies say it all started with an armed car jacking that happened on the area of West Nine Mile Road and Pensacola Boulevard around 7:20 last night. They say the victim was stabbed but his wounds weren't life threatening.

Deputies say they then found the stolen vehicle and suspect. The car took off and deputies gave chase.

The suspect then crashed the car on Highway 29 and Ensley Street. Investigators haven't disclosed any details of what happened next but deputies ended up shooting the suspect.

He was taken to the hospital where he's expected to be recover. Deputies say the initial car jacking could be drug related.
