Navarre Beaches, Unofficial Summer Time
Navarre has always been known as a sleepy little beach town.
Elizabeth Hallenbeck said she has noticed an increase in visitors with every year.
"There's a lot of families down here, it's very respectful. Our beaches are very clean, we really respect our beaches. All of our local people, we respect our beach a lot. And it pays off. You can tell," said Hallenbeck.
"There's definitely been a lot more tourism. A lot more people have discovered Florida's best kept secret. But it's been in a good way," said Hallenbeck.
Navarre doesn't have much in the way of commercial development geared exclusively towards tourists.
But the few bars, restaurants and equipment rental companies that do exist say the summer tourism business has started growing
Brad Hellwig manages Lagerhead's Bar on the Navarre Beach Pier.
"Now that we're running and going, we're getting super support. We have our locals that love us, and we have our returning tourists. First times, and people who come here specifically to be here in this location. And it's very exciting," said Hellwig
Hellwig said summer business is booming, as a former tourist himself he knows why.
"I vacationed here quite a bit in 2010, 2011, and I moved here in October because of my time here. Once you come, you want to come back, and then eventually, like me, a lot of people want to move here," said Hellwig.
Business owners say they hope to see summer growth continue to trend upwards, but locals say they wouldn't mind keeping this little piece of paradise all to themselves.
