FCAT results are out

The first FCAT results of the year are out.
That's the Florida Comprehensive Assessment test that affects whether students advance and schools get funding.
Yesterday, some of the reading, writing, and math scores were released.

In 3rd grade reading, 55% of Escambia County students scored at a satisfactory level or higher.
In Santa Rosa County, 73%.
In Okaloosa County, 65%.

In 3rd grade math, 49% of Escambia County students scored satisfactory or higher.
71% in Santa Rosa.
And 64% in Okaloosa.

Fourth, eighth, and tenth graders were graded on essay writing.

In our area the best scores were among Santa Rosa County 10th graders.
Seventy percent of them received satisfactory scores or higher.
