Amazon to begin collecting sales tax in Florida due to physical presence in the state

Starting this week, Amazon will start collecting state sales tax in Florida.
The company says it will start collecting taxes on purchases made by people who live in the state on May 1st.
That's because the online store is expected to open a 1.1 million square ft warehouse in Hillsborough County.
That's in the Tampa area.
The Florida Department of Revenue requires online companies to begin collecting sales taxes once it has a physical presence in the state.
Business lobbyist say it will cost about 80 million dollars in sales tax a year.
