Heavy rails damage railroad from Pensacola to Cantonment along Highway 29

The heavy rains damaged the railroad line that runs from downtown Pensacola to Cantonment, along Highway 29.

Alabama Gulf Coast Railroad says repairs will take a week to ten days.

At the washout off Highway 29. Right across the street is the Winn Dixie.
You can see the tracks are completely suspended from the ground.

We talked to a homeowner who lives right behind this railroad and says after the flooding at his house, he is not surprised to see this.

Scott Agerton/Homeowner "We tried to go out to the gas station. But it came to our front door. By the time we figured out all this was going on couldn't leave the house. We were just basically trapped in. The water was up to our house. It felt like a state of terror."

Scott and his family are ok and their neighborhood is now dry. As for this railroad- it will be closed until they put in a new foundation, which could take more than a week..
