Volunteers help cleanup Pensacola Beach after Memorial Day weekend

A big weekend on the beach means big money for businesses.
But it also means a lot of litter.

That's why volunteers are stepping in to help clean up.
Each year thousands of people come here for Memorial Day because of our beautiful beaches, well some of them didn't leave it that way.  There are beer cans, old coolers, not exactly pristine.

Bags of trash, coolers, can, just a lot of trash
Nena Land is talking about the area just east of Portofino resort.  She is visiting from Oklahoma- for the first time.   Its actually a little worse, on down wasn't as bad, this right here seems pretty bad

She learning first hand that not everyone leaves just their footprints behind...But some people say-that's simply the price you pay-to have the big crowds come in on a holiday weekend.

It a tradition, we will have this 4th of July Labor Day, what attracts everyone to come down..
The Santa Rosa Island Authority should have everything cleaned up by tomorrow but that didn't stop volunteers from spending the day -lending a helping hand.

Yesterday I came to beach and saw a lot of people out here, wanted to help out fish in the sea cause they didn't do anything, make sure no trash got in there.
I know a lot of people came out and probably threw a lot of trash, and messed up a lot of things for animals.

To make sure our beach stays beautiful- volunteers are planning clean up days after every big weekend....July 5th, July 14th, and August 4th
