Shoreline Village getting complete make-over

A Destin shopping center is getting a complete makeover, including a new entertainment venue that promises to draw big-name artists.

Shoreline Village is being re-invented. After glory years in the eighties and nineties, it had become one of those places that blends into the background despite a prime location at Highway 98 and Gulf Shore Drive.

Patrick Tatum/Capriccio Cafe "For me it's the fact that it's been dead for so long, people just kind of drive by like yourself, and they just put it off, they don't pay attention to it anymore"

New owners bought the center about a year ago. They say they're focused on bringing in tenants at the top of each business category. The new restaurant Bric-A-Brac has the same owners as the iconic Red Bar in Grayton Beach.

And they're giving shoppers something the internet can't entertainment. Sunday night, country band Blackjack Billy will put on the first ticketed concert at the Lighthouse Amphitheater. Promoter Mike Jones says they hope to have a show every week, including some big names that he can't reveal yet.

Mike Jones/Mike Jones Entertainment "Major major stadium and arena type acts that would normally be playing to a 15 to 20-25 thousand seat arena or a stadium"

A trolley will run up and down Holiday Isle, shuttling in customers from the condos. The crew at Capriccio Cafe can't wait.

Patrick Tatum "It's been dead for about fifteen years, so it's exciting to see it come back"

Laura Hussey "Leading up to the Blackjack Billy show on Sunday, there are free concerts here on Friday and Saturday nights."
