Senator Bill Nelson visits flood areas in Escambia County

US Democratic Senator Bill Nelson will be touring Escambia County today.
He is visiting some of the areas most affected by the severe storms in April.
Some homeowners in the Crescent Lake neighborhood who hope to speak with Senator Nelson.
Ricki Vann/Reporting "Water rushed through this community last month. The roads have been repaired enough for drivers to use them, but across the street homes, like this one, are still off their foundation."

Cynthia Hankinson lives in Crescent Lake and says there's still work to be done.
"Our main concern is the families across the street and the others that were flooded out. A lot of them are being displaced right now."

Hankinson says construction crews have done a great job with repairs to her road, but it's the homes across the street that still need work.

"My perfect game plan is to continue to get in and out  so I can go to work and that kind of thing and then eventually get our neighborhood back in order, especially our street."

Ricki Vann/Reporting "Senator Nelson will also visit the Escambia County Jail and FEMA's Disaster Recovery Center at the Brownsville Community Center. This is his first visit since the storm.
