NSA captures millions of images daily to help enhance facial recognition software

The National Security Agency is reportedly capturing millions of images per day to enhance facial recognition software.

That's according to a report in the New York Times.
The Times says it learned the details through top-secret documents leaked by former NSA Contractor Edward Snowden.
   
The report claims NSA agents uses images included in, quote "text messages, social media, video-conferences and other communications."
   
An NSA spokeswoman defended the program, telling the times it's part of the agency's job to improve intelligence-gathering.
   
The agency would not comment on whether images were collected from social media like Facebook.
