Higher standards set for Bright Future Scholarship

Higher scholastic standards will keep thousands of graduating high school students from receiving Bright Futures scholarships at the start of school.

This Fall, first time Bright Futures recipients must have an ACT score of at least a 26 for the minimum award.
That's up from a score of 22 last Fall.

In 2011, at the height of the recession, lawmakers raised test scores and GPA requirements in order to save a hundred million dollars.
The higher standards that were past in 2011 will kick in this Fall.
