United Way grant $2 million to local nonprofits

The Salvation Army will receive $260,000 in education and financial stability grants from the United Way Of Escambia County. That funding comes from the United Way's "workplace campaign."

The annual campaign generated more than $2 million. The money was distributed to 30 different non-profit organizations. Some of the programs received funding for three years.

"Many donors, over 10,000 donors, give what they can.  And they can make a huge difference in our community in areas of education, health issues, which we know with all the live well stuff going on is a true body of need in our community, and then financial stability.  The poverty in our community is pretty rough to bear for many families," said Andrea Krieger of United Way of Escambia County.

United Way will kick off its next workplace campaign in September.
