Florida's 56th Chief Justice sworn in today

The new Chief Justice of Florida's Supreme Court was sworn in today and made history in the process.
Jorge Labarga was sworn in as the state's 56th Chief Justice.

He succeeds Chief Justice Rocky Polston who will remain on the bench.
Labarga was appointed to the high court in 2009.

He is Florida's first Cuban-American born Chief Justice.
"My only heritage is that of an American, I just happen to be of Cuban descent.  The decisions that we make here will be what is the best interest of the judicial branch of government and best for the people of the state of Florida."

Labarga said his biggest challenge now is finding ways to represent the poor and others who don't have the means to pay for proper legal representation.
