Capitol Hill investigates deceptive weight-loss products

Today, on Capitol Hill, the focus is on the false and deceptive advertising for some weight loss products.

It's something Americans spend around $40 billion a year on. The hearing comes as the Federal Trade Commission sues Pure Green Coffee, a company based in Florida. They say the company used false weight-loss claims and fake news websites to market its product after getting a big boost from the Dr. Oz show.

Senator Clair McCaskill showed a clip of a Dr. Oz ad during the hearing.

She said that viewers trust Dr. Oz - and when he makes statements like that, they pay attention.

Doctor Oz insists he does not endorse any products, nor does he receive any money from the ones that appear on his show.
