Retired Marine awarded Medal of Honor

A retired Marine is awarded the Nation's Highest Military Honor.

Corporal William "Kyle" Carpenter was awarded the Medal of Honor today for jumping on a grenade to save a fellow Marine.
It happened during a firefight with Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan in 2010.

Carpenter lost most of his jaw, an eye, and one of his lungs collapsed.
It's the eighth Medal of Honor given to a survivor for actions in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Tonight at ten, we speak to the corpsman who helped save Carepenter's life.
He was one of the first on the scene of the blast.
