BERTHA QUICKLY HEADING WEST-NORTHWEST

Tropical Storm Bertha formed over the Atlantic Thursday night and is heading west-northwest.  It has winds of 45 miles per hour and is not forecast to become a hurricane. The storm is not forecast to move into the Gulf of Mexico.

Unemployment rates increase in every Florida county

The latest job numbers released show all sixty-seven counties in Florida rose in their unemployment rates.

Some of them rose by an entire percent point or more.

Locally the unemployment rates were not as bad.
   
Escambia County's unemployment rate was up from 5.9% in April to 6.2% in May. 
There were 8,672 people reported unemployed during the period.
   
Santa Rosa County unemployment also increased, from 5.0 to 5.4% from April to May.
A total of  4,028 people were unemployed.
   
Okaloosa County was ranked the third county in the state with the lowest unemployment rates at 4.4 percent.
This is only a tenth of a percent increase from April.
There was a total of 4,599 people unemployed.
