Non-violent arrest records in Alabama to be wiped clean
Happening today... People living in Alabama arrested for non-violent felonies but never convicted will soon be able to have their arrest records wiped clean. The new law goes into effect today.
Anyone wishing to expunge their records will have to supply documents about the case to the court that handled it. A district attorney will then have 45 days to review the request and notify a judge if the prosecution opposes it.
A judge can grant the request without a hearing if there are no objections.
