Countdown to Blue Wahoo's 2013 Start

PENSACOLA, Fla. -- We are counting down until the Blue Wahoos' big opening day and they are busy making sure everything is ready for when the boys step on the field.
They are doing construction up until the very last minute. The opening day for the Blue Wahoos is just days away!

When you walk in the stadium you will notice some new things including this brand new party deck.  They're rushing to make sure its finished in time.

"I'm a party person man, I'm an old beach bum, I like to party," said Jake Dowling.

Dowling and others will be right at home at the Fireball Cinnamon Whisky Party Deck. It can hold more than 150 people. The Wahoos added it because there wasn't enough room on the two other decks.

Dowling has been to a lot of stadiums but never one like the Wahoos stadium. "I used to go to Fenway Park, sneak in, climb billboards, this is great. It's laid back  you have good ball players. It's the best thing that's happened in this city," he said.

The new party deck isn't the only change. They are taking down the sign for Mulroys and replacing it with the "Off the Hook" Oyster Bar. You can still get "typical" baseball food, but the new restaurant will serve craft beers, shuck oysters and offer fish and grits.

The goal of the new party deck and oyster bar is to not make it not just a baseball game but a complete experience.

All three party decks are completely sold out for the first five games.

The Blue Wahoos will hold workouts on Tuesday, April 2 and Wednesday, April 3 at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium. Both workouts are free and open to the public. Tuesday's practice will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday's is at 6:00 p.m. Fans and media are invited to attend. Concession stands will offer limited menu items.
