Okaloosa County shooting investigation

A shootout in Okaloosa County leaves one dead and two others injured.

Around 5 a.m. Wednesday an altercation began outside the Red Rose Gentlemen's Club located in the 100 block of Santa Rosa Boulevard.

Initial reports state shots were fired and the crime scene stretched to several parking lots including the Hampton Inn.

Investigators said a 27-year-old off-duty Escambia County Sheriff's deputy was involved in the shooting and was shot in the arm.

A 21-year-old Fort Walton Beach resident was shot once in the leg.

They were both taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

A third person, Dustin Jones, 32, died after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.

The State Attorney's Office confirmed that the deputy was not undercover and that he was there on a personal matter.

They also said it was too early to determine who fired what shots.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office and the State Attorney's office secured a very large crime scene collecting evidence.

Several witnesses to the shooting are being questioned.

The Escambia County Sheriff's Office posted the following statement to Facebook:
