The Justice Department has added two top prosecutors to the child sex trafficking investigation of Congressman Matt Gaetz Thursday, according to The New York Times.

Gaetz is currently under investigation for allegedly having sexual contact with a 17-year-old girl, as well as paying and or giving gifts to underage girls for sex.

The two new prosecutors being added to the investigation are a public corruption investigator with expertise in child exploitation crimes, as well as a top leader of the public corruption unit, according to The New York Times.

Gaetz recently spoke with Channel 3 on air about his ongoing allegations.

"There is not a single woman who has accused me of any misconduct, and I think that speaks volumes after six months of my life being dragged by just about every media organization," Gaetz said.

Joel Greenberg, a former associate of Gaetz, who plead guilty to six felony counts of sex trafficking said in May that he would agree to cooperate with investigators in a plea deal.

Greenberg believes his cooperation will provide evidence that Gaetz paid an underage girl to have sex with him.

A Niceville man, Stephen Alford, allegedly tried to extort $25 million from Congressman Gaetz's family in exchange for a pardon to his investigation by President Biden.

In a six page indictment, Alford told Gaetz's father that he wrote a letter called "Project Homecoming" that falsely contained facts about public corruption involving Matt Gaetz.

Alford was recently re-arraigned on additional charges of wire fraud.

Gaetz took to Twitter in September after Alford was indicted to say that his behavior shows that the claims he had against Gaetz were not true.

Gaetz also recently denounced his relationship with Joel Greenberg live on air at Channel 3.
