FAIRHOPE, Ala. — More than 200,000 people are expected to stroll the streets of Fairhope during the 67th Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival.
The nation's top artists and crafters vie for the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work on the Eastern Shore.
More than 230 vendors were accepted this year.
The festival includes live entertainment and a food court with a variety of cuisine.
When the festival began in 1953, arts and crafts were displayed in shop windows, and most of it was not for sale.
By 1967, more than 100 artists and crafters displayed their creations and gave demonstrations.
The show moved outdoors in 1978.
In recent years, the festival has consistently ranked as one of the top art festivals in the United States.
The 2019 festival will take place March 15-17, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Admission is free.
