Four animals perish in W Gadsden Street fire

Pensacola fire crews arrived on the scene of a heavily-involved residential fire on Gadsden Street on Sunday.

According to Pensacola Fire Department (PFD) spokesperson Lt. Gary Creel, PFD arrived at 1218 W Gadsden Street at 1:53 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7th.

Lt. Creel told Channel 3 News that there were no people in the home at the time of the fire, but four animals inside the residence at the time perished.

One family was provided financial assistance via the American Red Cross to help with temporary lodging and to replace necessities lost in the fire like food, clothing, and medications.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and is still under investigation by PFD.
