The Ann Taylor company has agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit over what the plaintiffs called deceptive pricing.

In the lawsuit, the plaintiffs allege that ANN, Inc., the company that owns Ann Taylor Factory and LOFT Outlet stores, misled customers about the quality and price of its outlet store merchandise by leading them to believe that the merchandise sold in outlet stores was once sold in the company's retail stores.

The plaintiffs claimed that the outlet store merchandise was actually manufactured only to be sold in outlet stores and that ANN, Inc. advertised discounts based on fictitious original or regular prices.

ANN Inc. did not admit wrongdoing and the Court did not decide in favor in either party. Instead, both parties agreed to a $6.1 million settlement.

Customers who bought qualifying products from May 5, 2012 to May 4, 2016 can apply for a cash payment of $5 dollars or a store voucher worth $12.
