Authorities investigate attempted abduction

Authorities are searching for a man who they say tried to abduct a 14-year-old near a high school in Santa Rosa County.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office (SRCSO) says the incident happened near Navarre High School around 2:45 p.m. near Ortega and Shipton Streets..

Just before the 911 call, the juvenile female victim told authorities an adult male between the age of 50 and 55 with black/grey hair pulled up to the victim and grabbed the victim by the arm. The victim reportedly struck the suspect with an instrument case and ran away.

The vehicle was described as a small white cross-over type SUV. The male was believed to be thin and tall. No other descriptors are available. The victim was not injured.
