Bicyclist killed in Michigan Avenue hit-and-run
PENSACOLA, Fla. (WEAR) —
A Pensacola woman is dead after being hit while riding her bicycle. The driver who hit her fled the scene, state troopers say.
The collision happened around 9:30 p.m. on Friday.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), 39-year-old Melissa Hicks was cycling down West Michigan Avenue when a driver rear-ended her bicycle near Jaker Lane.
FHP said whoever was behind the wheel drove off.
Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are now looking for the driver responsible.
