A 32-year-old convicted sex offender is accused of having sex with a teenager. The suspect's girlfriend and the victim's father helped bring him to justice.

Escambia County Sheriff's Office (ECSO) investigators say Peter Mika Lotoa slept with the 16-year-old six times between January and March of this year. The victim told investigators she noted each time they had sex on her cell phone.

The victim's father, who is Lotoa's friend, was informed about suspected sexual interaction by the suspect's girlfriend, according to the arrest report. He then notified ECSO about the inappropriate relationship, according to an arrest report. He showed deputies a screen shot of a Facebook message Lotola sent to his daughter, where the suspect writes that "he understands [the father] did what he had to as a father".

He was booked into the Escambia County Jail Tuesday on a $600,000 bond. He is expected to appear in circuit court May 3, 2018.

Lotoa was convicted of lewd lascivious battery in March of 2005 in Escambia County. His victim was 14, according to the arrest report.
