Deputies: Gun recovered from special needs classroom at C.A. Weis Elementary in Pensacola

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of a gun at an elementary school Wednesday.

It happened at C.A. Weis Elementary.

The sheriff’s office confirms the weapon was brought to school by a child with a disability. The gun was visible and found in a special needs classroom.

According to deputies, the gun was retrieved and nobody was hurt.

The sheriff's office says it has identified the gun owner.

No arrests have been made at this point.

Escambia County Public Schools says it is aware of the incident, but declined to comment because of the ongoing law enforcement investigation.
