Deputies: Man shot in Escambia County, investigation ongoing

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- A man was shot early Sunday morning in Escambia County.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting took place on West Roberts Rd. at Tuttle Road.

Upon arrival, deputies found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. They also found multiple bullet holes in a vehicle.

Deputies say the victim was attempting to get into a friend’s car to leave, but the vehicle was stopped by deputies.

The victim had a large sum of money in his possession and is refusing to cooperate with law enforcement, deputies say.

The victim was taken to the hospital for his injuries.
