ESCAMBIA COUNTY -- Three people are dead after a shooting on West Jackson Street in Escambia County on Sunday morning.

The Escambia County Sheriff's Office says they responded to a shooting at at around 1:15 a.m. at an "adult birthday party" at West Jackson Square on 65th Avenue and Jackson Street.

Deputies say the three victims were inside a parked car in a lot alongside 65th Avenue before shots were fired into the vehicle.

Two of the victims died at the scene. The third victim was taken to the hospital, but would later succumb to his injuries.

"This is a terrible tragedy that we are investigating as a targeted ambush”, Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons said.

Rifle shell casings and handgun shell casings were located next to the car, according to the sheriff's office.

There are no known suspects at this time.

The sheriff's office says all available investigators have been called in and the real-time crime center has been activated.

Investigators are also asking anyone who attended the party to review any videos or photos and provide any useful information to investigators.
