A standoff is over and a man is in custody following an incident in Escambia County Wednesday afternoon.

The Escambia County Sheriff's Office (ECSO) said a deputy was injured after a man fired a weapon that ricocheted, hitting the deputy. ECSO said the man then ran to a home and barricaded himself inside.

ECSO Public Information Officer Amber Southard said deputies initially responded to the area of Avery Street and Hollywood Avenue in reference to a person trespassing.

Southard told Channel 3 News the trespasser, 59-year-old Dale Allen Brown, fired an unidentified weapon after deputies arrived on scene, which ricocheted and hit a deputy.

The deputy suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to Southard.

Southard said Brown will be charged with aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, trespassing, and armed burglary once taken into custody.
