Escambia County fire crews responded to a residential fire off Gulf Beach Highway in Pensacola Wednesday night.

According to Escambia County Public Information Officer Joy Tsubooka, the initial call came in at 11:59 p.m.

Neighbors called about visible smoke and flames at 825 Gordon Avenue.

Tsubooka told Channel 3 that crews performed two sweeps of the home and found no one inside and that the fire was under control by 12:25 a.m.

The fire was caused by a stove that was left on and approximately 50 percent of the house was damaged by heat and smoke, Tsubooka said.

The American Red Cross was called in to assist two adults and three children to help with temporary lodging and to replace necessities lost in the fire like food, clothing, and medications.

No injuries have been reported.

This is a developing story. Channel 3 News will provide additional updates as new information becomes available.
