Freeze alert issued to WEAR-TV area

Freeze alert heading into Thursday morning.

Signs of spring break are showing up along the Gulf Coast, but the weather leans on the cold side. Normally a high in the upper 60s is expected with lows near 50. Tuesday afternoon Pensacola recorded a high of just 63 at 3:02 p.m.

The coldest night of the week will be Wednesday night into Thursday morning with lows in the 30s and a light freeze possible for the WEAR-TV area.

A freeze watch is in effect, which will be upgraded to a warning sometime Wednesday, with some adjustments possible. Frost and freeze may kill sensitive vegetation. All but the extreme coastal areas are included within the freeze alert.

The weather warms up later in the week with 70s taking over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. That warmer weather does come with higher humidity and a chance for rain.
