Late Thursday a frost advisory was upgraded to a freeze warning for much of Northwest Florida. All but the coastal areas are included. The alert is officially in effect from midnight until 8:00 a.m. Friday.

Temperatures will drop to near or in some cases just below freezing. The coastal zones of the WEAR-TV area will likely be closer to 40 degrees. Frost can still form with temperatures above freezing and is likely for an extended period.

With the warm weather recently, flowers and plants have been springing up. With frosty weather and with some areas getting a light freeze, some of the vegetation could be damaged by Friday morning.

For spring breakers next week the weather is expected to be cool again with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s.
