Gulf Breeze native Abigail Spencer stars in new Hulu series
PENSACOLA, Fla. (WEAR) —
Gulf Breeze native Abigail Spencer is starring in a new series for Hulu.
"Reprisal" follows a woman seeking revenge against the gang that left her for dead.
The pilot streamed as a movie on Hulu, starting in January. Now the network has picked it up as a series.
Spencer started acting in Northwest Florida while still a student, performing with local theatre groups. She's not the only one of her peers to find success in show business. In 1996, Spencer was cast in St. Mary's Production of "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," playing one of the brides alongside future TV star Katy Mixon. She also performed in the Pensacola Children's Chorus with Mixon and Ashley Brown, who went on to a Broadway career.
Spencer's professional career began in a New York soap opera. She played Becca Tyree on "All My Children" between 1998 and 2000. Her next big break came nearly 10 years later, when she was cast as teacher Suzanne Farrell in the award-winning series "Mad Men." Since then, she's starred in several series, including "Rectify" and "Grey's Anatomy". She co-starred in "Suits" with Meghan Markle, which earned her an invitation to the royal wedding.
Spencer's most recent series was the time travel chase "Timeless." The final episode aired in December, not long after she filmed the pilot for "Reprisal." The series is expected to debut on Hulu later this year.
