Pensacola woman safe after hostage situation in Warrington
PENSACOLA, Fla. —
A hostage situation at a Motel 6 landed a convicted felon back in jail.
Escambia County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) said they received a call around 12:50 a.m. Tuesday morning regarding a woman behind held hostage at the Motel 6 on New Warrington Road near Chief's Way.
Deputies contacted Roderick Sims, deputies said, and he confirmed a woman was being held against her will.
Hostage negotiators were called in. After two hours, authorities said Sims opened the door and SWAT members moved in.
Sims was arrested without incident.
He now faces multiple charges including false imprisonment and having a stolen gun in the hotel room.
The incident started around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday at the Motel 6 on New Warrington Road near Chief's Way.
Folks who spent their night at the motel on Monday told Channel 3 News that they do not feel safe.
"I said I won't be staying here anymore. That's a little scary you know. I'd rather be in a better area,” said Amanda Clemnons.
