Man charged with battery after victim's dog reportedly pees on hat

A Milton man is facing a battery charge for reportedly attacking his live-in girlfriend. The argument reportedly started after her dog urinated on his hat.

According to the arrest report, 23-year-old Jay Owens and the victim got into a verbal argument before she got to the scene of the incident. Once there, Owens "became irate and began screaming in her face", the report states. The victim told authorities Owens grabbed the back of her neck, forced her to the ground, held her head to the floor and yelled in her ear.

In the report, deputy with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office noted her neck was red and bruised. Owens is being held in the Santa Rosa County Jail on a $250 bond.
