Man in wheelchair injured in hit-and-run; FHP searching for driver
CRESTVIEW, Fla. (WEAR) —
Law enforcement in Crestview is searching for the driver who struck a wheelchair-bound pedestrian and fled the scene.
On Friday, Oct. 20th, 2017 Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) arrived at the scene of a hit and run that took place at 9:50 p.m. at Stillwell Blvd. and Brentwood Ln.
According to an FHP press release, a vehicle traveling east on Stillwell Blvd. collided with the back of a wheelchair occupied by David W. Newcomb, 32, of Crestview as it approached Brentwood Lane.
Newcomb, who was also traveling east on Stillwell Blvd. at the time of the collision, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
The vehicle was reported last seen traveling east on Stillwell Blvd.
The vehicle was described as a late 90's model or early 200's model 4 door white sedan. It could possibly be missing the front passenger side headlight.
FHP is still investigating this incident.
