A man was killed after Mobile County Sheriff’s deputies say he barricaded himself inside a home and shot at deputies.

The incident happened on Friday at approximately 10:30 a.m.

Deputies responded to Prine Road in Citronelle to help Citronelle police with a domestic violence call.

According to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), 63-year-old Ulman Jerald Roberts broke into the home occupied by his estranged wife.

Deputies say the woman ran from the home and ran to a neighbor calling 911.

MCSO said Roberts then barricaded himself inside the home and refused to leave.

Roberts began shooting and law enforcement returned fire and struck the suspect, according to a report from MCSO.

Roberts was airlifted to a hospital, but later died from his injuries.

MCSO is investigating the shooting.
