Man shot by co-worker in Okaloosa County

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) — A man is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries after being shot in an incident in Okaloosa County Saturday morning.

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office (OCSO), 23-year-old Ezekial Belcher approached his co-worker and friend, 30-year-old DeeCee Smith and began an argument over a past relationship with a woman.

Authorities said Belcher initiated an argument with Smith, but was broken up by witnesses.

Smith left the altercation and told Belcher he was too tired to fight anymore and went to get a firearm from his car.

The entire time, Belcher pursued Smith and would not leave.

OCSO said Smith fired three shots, two of which hit Belcher.

Belcher continued to fight after being shot and Smith threw his gun away from the altercation.

Belcher finally left the scene with a friend.

When law enforcement arrived, deputies began searching for the car and stopped it on Highway 293 at Lakeshore, where they detained Belcher and the driver.

Smith declined to pursue charges and signed a drop charges.

Belcher was flown to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for treatment.
